For nearly 40 years, he taught at, and was business manager at, the John Philip Sousa Junior High School in Southeast Washington, D.C. He was also a lifetime member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Carolyn; two sons and their wives, Albert Terrence & Wanda Preston and Alex Troy & Sloane Preston; brothers, William, Patrick, & Earl; sisters, Ethel Preston Martin & Dorothy Preston Ferguson; grandchildren, Tiane Johnson, Brandon Monroe, Jermiza Coles, and Aysha & Dallas Preston; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
