Mary Jane is the daughter of James O. Blackburn and Malissa Purcell. She married Virgil Deschamp (Virgile Deschamps), a French immigrant, on 25 Apr 1867. They had five known children: William, Julia, John Henry, Adolph, and James. Sometime after Mary Jane was widowed in January 1885, she moved in with her son, John Henry. She was living with her granddaughter, Ella Maude Deschamp and Ella's husband Herman Fravel in New Albany when she died.
Please note, her grave stone was purchased nearly 50 years after her death, and the date of death on her stone is actually the day she was buried. (Death Record Book CH-35, page 64, Floyd County, Indiana Department of Health, Division of Vital Records, New Albany, Indiana)
