ACCIDENT AT RUFUS FATAL TO LOCAL WOMAN

Death came to Blossom Helen Davis, 46, early Sunday morning as result of injuries suffered in an auto crash at Rufus, Ore. at 10:15 Saturday night.

Funeral services were held here Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Edwin B. Towle officiating, and interment followed in the Odd Fellows cemetery.

For the past 13 years, Blossom was employed at the National Bank of Commerce here.

Don Jackson of Goldendale, Blossom's companion at time of the accident, suffered head lacerations, and was taken to The Dalles General Hospital, along with her. They arrived at the hospital about 11 p.m. and Blossom died a few minutes after 1 a.m. Sunday.

They were driving across Highway 30 from north to south at Rufus when an eastbound car driven by Ben Weatherall of Arlington, Ore. rammed their car broadside, according to an Oregon State Police report relayed to the sheriff's office here.

Weatherall and five passengers in his car were not injured. To early this week, no citation had been issued in the case. Sheriff E.C. Kaiser has requested a copy of the accident report from Oregon State Police.

Russell Hardin, brother of Mrs. Davis, went to the sheriff's office at 8:30 a.m. Sunday to seek information on the couple, as the family had no word of their whereabouts since they left the previous evening. Hardin asked for a check of accident reports in Oregon.

Deputy Frank Feeley contacted The Dalles police by radio, and his request was relayed to the state police, who issued the report of the fatal accident.
