AGED PHYSICIAN DIES AT KENTFIELD
Dr. John E. Rankin, died last Saturday at Kentfield where he had resided for the past 12 years. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the 6th Michigan Cavalry and upon re-entering civil life he took up the study of medicine, practicing his profession for 45 years.
Funeral services were held Monday at his home in Kentfield. Rev. Cross of San Anselmo officiating, and 'the burial followed in the National cemetery at the Presidio where military honors were given.
Surviving Dr. Rankin are his wife. Mrs. Phebe [sic] Rankin, and his daughter. Mrs. J. Stegleman. The arrangements of the funeral were under the direction of Stephen Eden.
