Alton D. Elliott, 78, of Haleyville died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Carraway Burdick-West Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with burial in Winston Memorial Cemetery. Dr. James Troglen officiated. Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville directed.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and Mason Lodge No. 81. He was retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad with 35 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Elliott of Haleyville; three children, Stephen Elliott and his wife, Norma of Canton, Ga., Sarah Ellis and her husband, Ronnie of Hamilton and Stephanie McAfee and her husband, David of Florence; two sisters, Ruby Aderholt and Audrey Fannin, both of Haleyville; and four grandchildren.
