Mrs. Brown was born October 21, 1912 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late John A. Sims and Etta Frieze Sims.
In in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Andrew Brown on September 30, 1972.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Cannon High School in 1929 and was a lifelong member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church and was active in all phases of the church and was a former member of the choir, Children's Sunday School teacher and member of Circle # 1, member of Bethpage Extension Club and Seniors Citizens and a long time member of Bethpage ECA. She retired from Suma's Shoppe in Kannapolis in 1982 after 26 years of service.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Rev. Daryl Baker will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 pm Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The family requests that memorials be donated to Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081 in memory of Mrs. Brown.
