Lydia was the daughter of James and Esther Stump Cummins.

Obituary:
Mrs. Lydia Hunt, whose maiden name was Cummins, was born in Kentucky January 11 1829. When one year old her parents moved to Indiana, and later on to Jasper Co IL, where she was united in marriage to Elihu Hunt. They began housekeeping in the southern part of Coles Co, and in 1871 moved to Douglas Co onto the farm near the Mr. Gilead church where they have since resided with exception of a few years in Hindsboro. If she had lived three days longer they would have been married 60 years. she leaves her aged husband and seven living children:
1. Wm. Hunt, Hugo
2. Geo. Hunt, Mt. Gilead
3. John Hunt, Indianapolis Ind
4. Mrs. Sarah Webb, Gays IL
5. Mrs. Clara Stout, Oakland
6. Mrs. Allie Lewis, Tuscola
7. Mrs. Jennie Lewis, Champaign
4 children having preceded her to the home beyond the skies.
The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Cusic at the Mt. Gilead M.E. church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. She was a member of this church having placed her membership there 38 years ago on moving from Coles Co. All members of the family were present at the funeral, including 40 great grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives. Its is said the funeral procession reached over one mile. She was a splendid old lady and will be greatly missed in the home and community. The burial was at Broadus cemetery.
