He was the son of Henry T. and Lottie Davenport Barnum of Hambden, and attended Hambden and Chardon schools. All his active life was devoted to military service. He served through the Spanish American War, and World War I, retiring shortly thereafter.
Surviving are his wife, Merle (nee Wilcox); two sons, Sgt. Keith Barnum, U. S. Army, and Allan, who is in the Navy; two daughters, Sgt. Dorothy Barnum, in the Army in Germany; and Anna May Barnum of New York City, A brother, Roy, of Toledo also survives. A brother, Sizer Barnum, who resided in Chardon for many years, is deceased.
