The beautiful daughter of Clara Rebecca Hardy and Frederick James Hatt. Lydia's mother died when she was just a small child and she was raised by her step-mother Adalaide Amelia Knight with frequents visits to her Aunt Sarah Hatt Jacobs. Lydia's older brothers were mostly raised by Aunt Sarah after their mother's death.

It is interesting to note Lydia's mother, Clara, also orphaned at a young age named her baby girl after her mother, Lydia Ensign Valencia Hardy.

Lydia married Atha Wilford Lee. They had three children: Hazel, Helen & George and two known stillbirths.
