Westbrook – Kendall W. Woods, 86, of Larrabee Woods, died Tuesday, February 18, 1997, at a Portland hospital. He was born in Unity September 5, 1910, the son of John and Ida (Bessey) Woods. He attended Unity and Portland schools.

He was an electrician who worked for several companies, retiring from Fairchild's in 1974.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, the Maine Genealogical Society, the Maine Chapter of the National Magna Carta Society. In 1984, Mr. Woods published a book called "The Woods Family of Unity, Maine", and he did this from many years of compiling family history.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lillian Waning Woods of Westbrook; a daughter Mrs. Franklin (Joanne) York of Methuen, Mass.; a sister, Bessie Lang of Lompoc, California; a grandson, Jeffrey York of Hampton, N.H.; a granddaughter, Jennifer York of Methuen, Mass.

Visiting services will be at 1 p.m. today, Friday, February 21, at the Hay and Peabody Funeral Home, Portland. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Kendall was very interested in water (hydro) power for most of his life and was very knowledgeable.
