Dorothea Vivian "Dot" Napier, age 96, of Deerfield, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born June 12, 1920 in Farmington, West Virginia, to William and Sadie Stewart, who preceded her in death many, many decades ago.
Dot was the youngest in her family of eight children and was preceded in death by her four sisters: Myrtle, Audra, Arlina (who died at the age of 3 of influenza), and Freda; and her three brothers: Herman, Delmar, and Melvin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Edmund Napier, in 1979, and by her youngest son, Robert William Napier, in 2012.
Dot is survived by her eldest son, Ronald (Kaye) Napier of Temperance, MI, and daughter, Carolyn Sue (Benjamin) Rapp of Deerfield, MI, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dot is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Greg Napier, Sherry Hasbrouck, Kimberly (John) Alexander, Darin Prielipp, Deborah Napier, Jeff Prielipp, Charles (Bianca) Napier and Robert (Kelli) Prielipp. "Great Grandma Dot" was blessed with seven wonderful great-grandchildren: Valerie, Marc, Jessica, Alicia Marie, Troy, Nicholas, and Alicia Charlene; as well as six delightful great-great-grandchildren: Mason, Derek, Melanie, Zoey, Michael and Emily.
Having been retired for many years, Dot enjoyed crocheting, cooking for her family, playing Yahtzee, and watching The Price is Right on TV every weekday. She was an avid collector of salt-n-pepper shakers, acquiring a set from wherever she was able to travel. In her younger days, she loved going to rummage sales, and playing bingo and slot machines. She also loved to play the Lottery! It was a thrill for her to visit Las Vegas and her family in Arizona. Dot had a very "green thumb," as evidenced not only by her beautiful house plants, but by the legacy of love which she rooted deeply within her heart, that sprouted through the generations and will continue to flourish, carrying on her memory and her spirit. Dot's family were the loves of her life and, from our lives, her presence will be deeply missed!
Funeral services will be held at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield, Michigan, on Friday, February 3, 2017. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Deerfield Township Cemetery in Deerfield, Michigan
