Whitmore Hampton Rites Wednesday
Last rites will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a. m. from the First Methodist church for Whitmore Blackwell Hampton, who died at 10:50 p.m. Monday at the Crestview hospital in Nixon. Interment will take place in the Masonic cemetery with Baker Funeral chapel in charge of arrangements. The Rev. C. E. Marshall, pastor of the First Methodist church, will conduct the services.
Hampton was born in Gonzales on August 20, 1874, the son of Mary E. Hamon and Manoah B. Hampton was married to the former Eva Thomson and the couple made their home in Quanah for some 38 years, the deceased moving back to Gonzales in 1938 where he lived with his brother and sisters until they passed away. He was the last of the Gonzales Hampton family, and was a member of the Masonic lodge, the First Methodist church and a former Rotarian, having belonged to the organization while a resident of Quanah. Until ill health forced his retirement he was active in the real estate and insurance business. Survivors included his wife, a son, W. B. Hampton, Jr., of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Marshall of Quannah and four grandchildren.
