Services for Roy Shirey, 78, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. today at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Kip Clark, pastor of Lakeridge Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
He died Monday, May 3, at Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Petersburg and attended Levelland public schools. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran stationed at Reese AFB during World War II.
He married Elizabeth Sue Poff on Dec. 20, 1942. She died July 12, 1994. He was a printer with The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member and former deacon at Lakeridge Baptist Church. He was a resident of Lubbock since 1952.
Survivors include a son, Tom Shirey of Lubbock; two sisters, Jewell White of Salina, Calif., and Ruby Floyd of Mount Vernon; a brother, Wendell B. Shirey of Silver City, N.M.; and a grandson.
