Wallace McNitt was the son of Nancy (Crandall) and Marcus McNitt. Born December 1, 1869 in Bristol, Indiana, he came with his parents to Branch County at the age of six. With the exception of three years in Hillsdale County, the remainder of his life was spent in Branch County.

Wallace had two brothers, Alvia and John McNitt.

He married Addie (Gates) Perry on November 22, 1894 at Coldwater Lake. Together they had one daughter, Anna McNitt.

Wallace was a farmer and for ten years he was a janitor at Coldwater High School. At the age of sixteen he became a member of the United Brethern Church of Ovid Township; the last five years of his life he was a member of the Baptist Church of Coldwater.

He passed away at his home in Coldwater of February 13, 1935 at the age of 65.
