Joseph N. Frieders, 85, of Aurora, passed away peacefully April 5, 2009, at his home after a long and courageous battle with renal failure. He was born April 9, 1923 in North Aurora.

Joseph was a lifelong resident of North Aurora and Aurora. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Joseph married Colleen Hutter on October 23, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Aurora. He was employed by Oberweis Dairy for 26 ½ years until his retirement in 1979. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Knights of Columbus #736, the L.O.O.M. #400, the Western Catholic Union, the Phoenix Club, the Luxemburger Club and was retired from the Teamster's Local #423. Joseph enjoyed outdoor bowling with the Phoenix Club, vacationing with the Moose Club and was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Colleen Frieders; their children, Nancy (Thomas) Sowinski of Yorkville, Beth (James) Coakes of Boulder Hill, Joseph R. (Linda) Frieders of Chicago Heights, James A. (April) Frieders of Aurora, Paul E. (Kathy) Frieders of North Aurora, Karen M. Frieders of Aurora and Gregory W. (Sherri) Frieders of Sugar Grove;13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Gertrude LaVelle of North Aurora; his brother, Ralph (Jean) Frieders of Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth (Theis) Frieders; two sisters, Frances May and Marie Pierce; and one brother, Nicholas Frieders.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009, from The Daleiden Mortuary at 9:30 AM, to St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM., Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 7, from 3:00 PM 8:00 PM, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 4:30 PM, at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora. 630/631-5500, or visit our website at www.daleidenmortuary.com.
