Birth: 3rd of seven known children in Randolph county, North Carolina

A story found in the State Historical Society of Missouri (no
author listed, published by Steven McDaniel in the Feb. 1984 edition of
the McDaniel Family Newsletter) contains, in part, following
information:

The McDaniel family came from North Carolina to the Ozarks
fourteen years after the first log cabin was built on the site of what
is now Springfield. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. McDaniel, with their family
of three sons and four daughters, made the tedious overland trip to
their new home by covered wagon. They settled on a farm in what became
in 1859, Christian county about nine miles from the present town of
Ozark. This was about 1844....

Death: Its reported that Alfrod and sister Nancy's husband, Napoleon B
Morrow, were killed late during the Civil War because of their beliefs,
and are now both found with similar replacement headstones with same
death date of 1861. It is however believed wrong, likely from an eroded
stone with date of 1864, for Napoleon's last two children were born in
1862 and 1864.

Census: 1850, age 22, in Finley township, Greene, now Christian county,
Missouri with parents & four siblings.

Father: Samuel A. McDANIEL b: 21 DEC 1796 in Randolph county, North
Carolina
