Virginia L. "Jenny" Duncan, 86, passed away April 5, 2009, at her son's home in Pinch after a long illness.
She was born August 30, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Arley Clarence Dean and Mary Demma Pringle Dean.

She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very generous person with her time and was always willing to help others.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Albert Duncan; sisters, Opal Dean Casto, Esther Holland Muncil, Mary McCormick Randolph, Margaret Eloise Loudin, and Nellie Glenda Sinclair Chiarmonte; and brothers, William Wirt Dean and Arley "Jack" Dean.

Surviving are her sons, Clarence R. Duncan and his wife, Paula, of Pinch and Frank E. Duncan and his wife, Sharon, of Havre-de-Grace, Md.; sisters, Janet Harrison of Albuquerque, N.M., and Hazel Reed of Eldercare, Ripley; sister-in-law, Judy Parsons Dean of Charleston; grandchildren, Paul Duncan and his wife, Mary, Karen Duncan Paxton, Brian Duncan, Heather Duncan Holloway and her husband, Willie, and Kelley Duncan Smith and her husband, Christopher; great grandchildren, Chris Duncan, Chelsea Paxton, Dustin Paxton, Jared Tyler Duncan and Bailee Karsyn Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Danny Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to two of her nieces, Judith Dean Guthrie and Linda Reed Harper, and her sister-in-law, Judy Dean, for all the many beautiful cards that they sent to her during her illness. Also thanks go to Caroline and Tonya with Gentiva, who cared for her earlier in her illness. In addition, thanks go to Pat, Lucy, Marlene and Ritchie with HospiceCare, who gave such loving care to her these past three months.
