Former Chesaning Resident Dies in Lansing

Eveline Jane Turner was born at Corunna, Mich., Jan. 6, 1867. She was a grand-daughter of Judge Josiah Turner, who will be remembered by many of the pioneers of Saginaw and Shiawassee counties, also the daughter of Hon. Jerome W. Turner, of Owosso, deceased. At the age of 18 she was united in marriage to William E. Decker of Owosso. For a number of years they resided in that place. Then they moved to Saginaw county, where they were residents of Chesaning and vicinity about 18 years, later moving to Lansing. Mrs. Decker was a very patient sufferer for over two years. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her. The many beautiful floral offerings bore a silent testimony of the high esteem in which she was held. Besides her grief stricken husband she leaves to mourn their loss, three sons, Charles Decker, of Fowlerville; Josiah Decker, of Chesaning, and Edward Decker, of Lansing; and eight daughters, Mrs. John Ruff and Mrs. Fred Schmeige, of Chesaning; Mrs. William Klump, of St. Charles; Mrs. Evelyn Jennings, Mrs. Fred Brown, Mrs. Welcome Fineout and Misses Deane and Irene Decker, all of Lansing; six brothers, Jerome E. Turner, Willard J. Turner, Horace Turner, of Muskegon; Charles G. Turner, of Grand rapids; Milo Turner and Elsworth Turner, of Oklahoma; also 23 grandchildren and a host of friends. Mrs. Decker departed this life March 28, at her home in Lansing. The funeral was held at the Church of God, Elder R.L. Bottom officiating. The remains were brought to Chesaning for burial in Wildwood Cemetery.
