Dorothy married Peter Jongsma (five years her senior), who was born in 1909 in the Netherlands and who had two daughters from his first marriage, Betty and Janet. Dorothy and Peter had also had two daughters, Royann Antal and Georgia.
Dorothy died in January 1979 in Hammond, Lake County, Indiana at the age of 64 years. Her widower Peter died eight months later, in September 1979, in Hammond too, at the age of 69 years.
