I met Buckshot in the late 1950s. His father was a Teamster for Mid-States Freight Lines in Pittsfield with my father, Freddie L. Richards in the 1950s and early 1960s. My older brother Mel and sister Carol attended Pittsfield High School with Buckshot, and our families had various interactions. I became acquainted with Buckshot and his younger brother Terry in this way.
Buckshot and Terry were go-cart racers in the latter 1950s, which was an exciting and popular sport. We went to watch them race on occasion. They also worked on the family farm just a bit northwest of Pittsfield. I can remember going out to their farm and being given opportunity to feed their hogs and "play" with the other animals in the barn lot.
AS you can tell, Buckshot's life ended early at age 18. It was a tragedy for their family, and affected me deeply. We remember him.
