Funeral services for Mrs. Merton Bond were conducted at 9:30 Wednesday morning, May 30, 1956 at the Moore-Christensen Funeral Home of Ida Grove.

The floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. John Urban. The casket bearers were Cletus Bond, Jake Phillips, Joe Determan, Ralph Spotts, Jasper Wilson and Wesley Hayden. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mrs. Merton Bond was born Emma Mae Worthington July 11 1884, at Wilcox, Nebraska and passed away Monday morning, May 28, 1956 at her home on Washington Avenue at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 17 days. She moved from Nebraska to Illinois with her parents at an early age.

In 1905 she was united in marriage with Merton G. Bond. After living in Illinois for 8 years, they moved to Iowa where they were engaged in farming until 1942 when they moved to town and lived here in Ida County the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Tressia Irons Worthington, three sisters, Mrs. Zula Bond Welsh, Mrs. Pricilla Bond, and Mrs. Ethel Hornbuckle.

She is survived by her husband and seven children: four sons and three daughters, Clifford of Cherokee, Willard and Gerald of Ida Grove, Lucille, (Mrs. Blondie Peek) of Cherokee, Harold of Ida Grove, Katherine (Mrs. Robert Todd) of Storm Lake and Iola Mae (Mrs. Clarence Schultz) of Battle Creek. There are 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her four sisters, Mrs. Ed Bond, and Miss Etta Worthington of Ida Grove, Mrs. Walter Thompson, Rushville, Ill., Mrs. Ruth Schriber, Algona; and two brothers, William of Philadelphia, Ill, ; and John of Good Hope, Ill.

Mrs. Bond had been a well-known resident of Ida Grove, known to all as a good and friendly neighbor always ready to be of assistance to anyone who needed her. Her Happy disposition and helping hands will be missed by many.
