WALTER F. KEENEY DEAD
Walter F. Keeney, one of the firm members of Scott, Royce & Keeney, died at his home in Columbia avenue this morning at 7 o'clock.

The Naperville Clarion
February 7, 1912

Walter F. Keeney was born in the village of Rockton, Winnebago county, Illinois, forty-six years ago. Entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 7th, 1912.
He received his elementary education in the public schools of Rockton after which he attended the college at Rockford.
At the age of fourteen he moved with his parents to Iowa and worked for five years on his father's farm. Part of this time the management of the farm depended largely upon him, as his father owned and operated a paper mill at Mason City. Mr. Keeney told the writer a short time ago that it was the regret of his life when his father sold the farm as he enjoyed this work better than any other that he ever followed.
At the age of nineteen he went to Wilmington, Ill., and was employed as buyer of straw for his uncle who owned the paper mill at that place. From the latter place he came to Naperville and engaged with his uncle in operating the electric light plant of this city which was owned by his uncle.
He was married in 1892 to Miss Kittie Watson of Wilmington. Two children, Alice and Russell, bless this union. They are pupils in the public schools of this city.
In 1894 Mr. Keeney moved with his family to Pittsfield, Ill., to superintend the electric light plant at that place. He lived there for eleven years, at the end of which time he returned to Naperville and became a member of the insurance firm of Scott, Royce & Keeney. He was an active member of this firm up to the time of his demise.
He was an honored member of the Christian Science Society of this place and Euclid Lodge No. 65, A.F. & A.M.
