ST. PAUL RESIDENT SUCCUMBS AT HOME
Funeral Services for John Preston Jones, Retired County Farmer, To Be Saturday.
John Preston Jones, 81 years old retired Shelby County farmer, died at his home in St. Paul, at 8:00 o'clock this morning after having been ill with a complication of diseases since August. His condition had been serious for the past two years.
Born in Shelby county on December 25, 1862, the son of Charles and Martha Jones, he was the last of a family of 13 children. He had been a farmer all his life until he retired and moved to St. Paul several years ago. On March 8, 1883 he was united in marriage to Josie Young, who died January 1903. To this union 6 children were born. On November 3, 1903 he was married to Flora Bell (Shipp) Weidner, who survives with the nine children. They are Mrs. Dora Monroe of near Wilson Corner; Mrs. Martha Greeson, Mrs. Ethel McDonald and Merle Jones of St. Paul; Roy Jones of Milford; Mrs. Zella Paul of St. Omer; Forest and Orville Jones of Indianapolis and Mrs. Naomi Tibbetts of Anderson, also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was a member of the Bethel Separate Baptist Church south of St. Paul where funeral services will be held Saturday with the Rev. McCorkle former pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be made in the Jones Cemetery.
