Louise Albertia Welch was born October 22, 1899 in Oklahoma to Amelia Pauline (Raesler) and Frank George Welch.

Louise married James M. Battles who was born in approximately 1876 in Alabama. James passed away in 1952 in Lamar, Colorado.

Louise remarried to Pete Pipe; however, they separated and Pete moved to Pine Lodge, South Dakota.

Graveside services have been set for 2 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 1987, at Fairmount Cemetery for Louise A. Battles, 88.
The Rev. Donald Bleyle will officiate.

A former Lamar resident, Battles died December 13, 1987 at her residence in Canon City. She was born September 22, 1899 in Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank G. and Amelia P. Welch.

She resided in Lamar until the early 1950s and then moved to the Denver area and to Canon City in 1969, where she had been a resident since.

She was preceded in death by her first husband James Battles of Lamar in 1952; and two brothers Clarence Welch of Canon City and Alonzo F. Welch Sr. of Lamar.

Survivors include her husband Pete Pipe of Pine Ridge, S. D.; a sister-in-law, Ola Welch of Florence; nieces, Virginia Schwarz of Springfield, Evelyn Welch of Lamar and Ola Snyder of Florence; nephews, Clarence Welch of Florence and Alonzo (Evelyn) Welch Jr. of Lamar, a brother, Wallace Welch of California; a sister Lucy Todd of Calimesa, Ca.; and othe nieces and nephews.
