MARION, Dec. 17—W.P. Alford, 65, farmer of Gresham died at 9:30 Monday [Dec 16] night in a Mullins hospital after an illness of several weeks.

Born Oct. 13, 1892, he was a son of the late Emanuel and Janie W. Alford of Marion County. His wife, Mrs. Effie Whaley Alford, died several years ago.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Central Methodist Church, Brittons Neck.... Burial will be in Old Neck Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Henry and Paul Alford of Brittons Neck; four brothers, P.D. [Pearlie Dubose] Alford and E.A. Alford of Marion, C.E. [Charlie Everette] Alford of Procotorville, N.C., and E.M. [Eugene M.] Alford of Mullins; three sisters, Mrs. W.A. Brown [Alice Evelyn], Mrs. T.D. Anderson [Annie Louise], both of Mullins, and Mrs. John Rogers [Emma Jane] of Whiteville, N.C.; one half sister, Mrs. John Turbeville [Willie Ann], Marion; two half brothers, Monroe Alford of Bennettsville and Tom Alford of Chapel Hill, N.C.; also seven grandchildren.
