The brothers, Charles Friedrich Stitser (Karl Friedrich Stotzer) and John Adam Stetzer (Johann Adam Stotzer) came to the United States in 1854. They first settled in Walworth County, Wisconsin before moving to Jackson County, Wisconsin. There they lived with Silas Morse and John married Silas's daughter, Marie Louise Morse in Jan 1859. Charles married her sister Helen Morse.

The young men's parents Johann Friedrich Stotzer and Christiane Fischer Stotzer came to settle in Jackson County, Wisconsin in 1864 with their three remaining children. Where they stayed.

The German name Stotzer should have a Umlaut over the "o". That sound when Anglicized is spelled differently depending on the people writing it. Charles after marrying apparently went to Nevada where he stayed until 1867. His wife Helen went to Illinois during that time. When he came back they moved to Iowa where they raised their family. Perhaps this is why his name is spelled differenly than his siblings.
