Hart Jr., and his wife Rita; their two children, Jennifer H. Cashion, her husband, Matt, and Brandon E. Hart; brother-in-law, William S. Pate; his two sons, Brooks H. Pate, wife, Kristen, and William S. Pate Jr., wife, Rose; and their son, Kirby; sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry F. Webb Jr.; niece, Anne Terrell Webb Fenessy, and husband, J.D. Fenessy.

Dr. Hart was born in Goldsboro, N.C., son of Kirby T. Hart and Jessine Brooks. He started his medical career as an Army doctor at Fort Lee, VA, where he met his wife. Dr. Hart was an avid golfer, a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Petersburg Rotary Club, and a diplomat of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
