NANCY CAROL McCOY ATKINS, of Memphis, passed away on Friday evening April 10, 2009. Born June 24, 1945, she was a loving wife and mother. Nancy led a lifetime of selfless service to other people and to her faith, and was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sammie and Johnnie French McCoy. She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, the Reverend Steve L. Atkins, and two children, Anna and Andrew. She is also survived by her loving brother, Sammie (Jane) McCoy of Huntingdon, TN; mother-in-law, Lura Atkins and brother-in-law, Gerald Lee Atkins of Humboldt, TN; niece, Rachel (Ray) Fracchia of Memphis; nephew, Sammie (Shelley) McCoy of Franklin, TN and niece, Amanda Atkins of Milan, TN and nephew, Jeremy (Emily) Atkins of Dyer, TN and seven great-nieces and nephews. She was the heart of a close family who cherishes her kindness and optimism, including Billy and Mary Jane Burrough of Drummonds, TN and special friend, Micci Leake. The family is deeply indebted to the loving care of a number of caregivers. She attended Lambuth College and graduated from Memphis State University in 1968. She was retired from Delta Air Lines after 28 years of service and also worked for the Millington Telephone company and IntraCorp. Visitation will be at Munford Funeral Home, Millington Chapel, on Monday, April 13 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Germantown United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds, TN.
