Grave ID B-99-4. Coming in from the main entrance (the drive that goes by a castle like building), go to the right. Ken's gravesite is near the chapel. Approximately three rows east of the chapel and north (towards Paw Paw Drive) of the chapel doors-about in line with the northern most above ground tomb structure.

Obituary:
Kenneth William Groom, age 56, of Holland passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008, of cancer at Holland Hospice House.

He was born August 23, 1952, in Durbin, Republic of South Africa, to Claude and Phyllis Maud (Lloyd) Groom, and moved here from South Africa 8 years ago.

Ken had been employed in High Level Access Security for Sky Com Inc. in South Africa and had previously been in bank management for Standard Bank and sales manager for Cullen's Satellite all in South Africa. He served in the South African Defense Force, was a proud member of The Republic of South Africa National Shooting Team, a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Allendale, Holland Amateur Radio Club, EAA Experimental Aircraft and volunteered with the Red Cross (Holland Chapter) as a board member, International Red Cross of South Africa, Ottawa County EOC (Homeland Security) and as a Tulip Time marshal.

Survivors include his loving and caring USA family of friends; Charles, Sherry and Ian Krueger of Holland, Caleb and Amanda Zimmerman of London, Canada and his church family at St. Margaret Mary Church. Also, Ken's extended family in The Republic of South Africa; Candace Lotrict who he treated as a daughter, cousin, Collen Pappas, aunt, Podge Ponter and cousin, Mike Ponter in Virginia Beach, VA.

The Funeral Mass for Ken will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2008, at St. Margaret Mary Church in Allendale with Fr. Joseph Dreher as celebrant. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Holland.

Ken will never be forgotten as the HARC renamed it's clubhouse to the Ken Groom ZR5AAD Training and Tactical Center. Additionally, the HARC renamed its "Ham of the Year" award in Ken's memory.
