GROAT - Eleanore Groat age 54 of 1838 Lake Avenue Whiting passed away May 7 at the residence following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Christian Fellowship Church Highland Street Hammond Rev. Clyde Rodabaugh officiating burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery (NOTE: she's actually in Elmwood). Survivors James J. Craig of Whiting, son James E. Groat, field artillery U.S. Army prisoner of war, Japan, one granddaughter, five sisters Mrs. C. A. Halsey of Alton, ILL, Mrs. C.A. Phelps of Whiting, Mrs. H.B. Reineman of Whiting, Mrs. E. C. Clemens St. Joseph Mich., Mrs. M.O. Smith, Elkhart, Indiana, one brother H.F. Nanzer of Aurora, ILL. Remains will be at the residence after 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
