Harry Martin "Pete" Pitzer Jr., 93, of Midlothian, Va., formerly of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Va. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Bertha Lee Pitzer. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Pitzer Little (Dan), of Midlothian, Va., Patricia Pitzer Goins (Mickey), of Belleair, Fla., Dianne Clarke (Eugene), of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his son, Dwight Dean (Susan), of Danville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Pete was a truly positive-thinking person which he attributed to the teachings of the Dale Carnegie course "How to Win Friends and Influence People." His passion throughout his life was music. He is fondly remembered by family and friends for his renditions on the trumpet of 'Happy Birthday' and 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow,' in addition to the jazz tunes he loved and played so much. Pete was an accomplished salesperson throughout his life, an interested and avid learner, a superb conversationalist, and a believer in Christ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at the Huguenot Road Baptist Church, 10525 Huguenot Road, Richmond, Va. A reception in celebration of Pete's life will follow the service.
