Richard Barbeau September 15, 1927 - February 7, 2008 DANIELSON - Richard J. Barbeau, 80, of L'Homme St., Ext. passed away at home on Thursday surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Betty (Hunt) Barbeau. They were married on Oct. 24, 1959. Born in Danielson on Sept. 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Adelard and Doris (Larosque) Barbeau. He attended St. James School in Danielson. Upon completion of his education, he became employed in his father's house painting business. He also worked with his brother in house painting. In 1966, he formed his own painting business, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2004. As a hobby, Mr. Barbeau refinished antique furniture. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed UCONN Women's Basketball, the Boston Red Sox and gardening. He was a member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks #1706 and the Knights of Columbus St. James Council. He leaves three sons, Patrick M. Flannery of Waterville, Maine, Douglas D. Flannery, Sr. and his wife, Rita of Danielson, and Jeffrey M. Barbeau of R.I.; two daughters Cindy L. St. John and her husband Gary of Brooklyn, CT and Doris A. Marcoux and her husband Dennis of Danielson; a brother Paul J. Barbeau and his wife Lea of Storrs, CT; nine grandchildren Jodie, Betty Jean, Kellie, Douglas, Nichole, Kevin, Erica, Emily and Alyson; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a dear friend Alfonzo "Honey Bunny" DelPesco. He was predeceased by two brothers, Toussaint Barbeau and Roger Barbeau. Cremation to follow with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery
