MACON- Martha Birdsey Napier of Macon, GA, died peacefully on April 13, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Christ Church. The Reverends Anne Meroney and Harriette Simmons will be officiating. Burial will be private in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Napier, the daughter of the late Rosalind Davis Birdsey and John Sandford Birdsey was born on May 17, 1915 in Ashville, NC. The Birdsey family had moved to Ashville to care for Rosalind Birdsey, who died shortly after her daughter's birth. The Birdseys moved back to Macon, and Mrs. Napier attended Macon schools and then Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, NC and King-Smith Studio School in Washington, DC. She married the late Hamilton Napier of Macon in 1940 and lived in Macon her entire life. She enjoyed seeing her many friends, playing bridge, traveling, and reading. Mrs. Napier was a member of Christ Church, the Junior League, the National Society of Colonial Dames, and the Idle Hour Country Club.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Rosalind Davis Napier Fuller and William Bryan Fuller; grandsons, William Bryan Fuller, Jr. and wife, Lee Ann, and Napier Sandford Fuller and wife, Sue Anne, all of Wilmington, NC; her sister, Sandford Birdsey of Key West, Florida, and nephew, Buford Birdsey of Macon.

The family wishes to thank Mrs. Napier's many friends at Carlyle Place; her helpers, Evelyn Hodges, May Minor and Doll Long; and the Hospice staff for their support and friendship.
