She second married Joe Carroll Cato. They had one child, Living Son. JC died in Nov 1969.
She third married Johnnie Stone in September 1985 in Brunswick, Glynn county, GA. They had no children.
Charlotte was a hard working, tough woman. After JC died in 1969, she worked a full time job, raised her sons and bought a condemned house the she worked on with her two sons that were only 10 and 15 at the time, and turned it into a home. She loved being outside working with her flowers and had quite a green thumb.
Her health began to decline after being blasted with chlorine at her workplace. Her lungs were quite damaged. After she married Johnnie in August 1985, her house was too small for the wheelchair that she knew was coming, so they purchased land in Waynesville, Brantley county, GA and had a large home built where she lived until her death. By her own request, she was interred on that property on a section that we had legally designated aa a small family cemetery after her death. She remained there for about 3 years.
Johnnie remarried in 1997 and the new wife wanted Charlotte moved, saying "It's just silly and pretty creepy to have a dead body on my property". So, Johnnie had Charlotte moved to her current location in the Stone family plot in Palmetto. No family member of Charlotte's was ever contacted. The new wife passed away shortly after from cancer, Johnnie lost the property and left the area.
Charlotte was a strong woman that I learned a lot from. I was with her when she passed and she will always be greatly missed.
