"Gottlob Snyder, 74, a well-known resident of Rocky Grove for many years, died at his home 115 Cedar Street at 10:50 o'clock Thursday night (10 Dec 1936). He had been in ill health for the past four years and had been confined to bed since Sept 4th.
Mr. Snyder resided in Rocky Grove for more than 50 years, and had many friends in Rocky Grove, Franklin, and vicinity. He was born in Laufen, Germany, and came to the United States in 1880, making his home in Rocky Grove shortly after that time.
When he first came to this district, Mr. Snyder was employed at the old Christian Brecht Brewery and later was employed by the Galena-Signal Oil Company. He retired at the Galena in 1932 after about 30 years of service. He was a member of Venango Lodge, I.O.O.F. and the Franklin Lodge, Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by five sons and daughters as follows: William G. Snyder, Mrs. B.F. Stubbs, Mrs. Melvin Mong and George W. Snyder all of Franklin and Mrs. Clarence Beggs of Greenville, Pa, sixteen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the late home with Rev. James R. Beamer, pastor of the Grace Lutheran church officiating. The internment will be in the Franklin cemetery." from the Derrick Newspaper, Oil City, Pa. Saturday December 12, 1936, pg. 9 c 2
