Clarendon, September 11 (Special)--Funeral services for Marion H. Reed, 65, who had worked as a chuck wagon cook for J. A. Ranch for many years, will be held at 10 a. m., Friday in First Baptist Church here, with the Rev. Earnest Phillips of Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon, officiating.
Members of the Clarendon American Legion will be pallbearers. Burial will be at Citizens Cemetery here, under direction of Warren-LaGrone Funeral Home of Canyon.
Mr. Reed, who had lived in Clarendon until two days before his death, on Wednesday, in Amarillo , had been ill for four years.
He was born in Covington, Tex. , December 10, 1892. He was a member of the Baptist Church , and served with the Army in France during World War I.
Life magazine featured Mr. Reed's life as a chuck wagon cook several years ago in a picture article.
He is survived by three sons; Marion E. Reed of El Paso , and Kenneth and Bill Reed, both of Amarillo ; a daughter Mrs. Wally Black of El Paso ; four sisters and 10 grandchildren. (Newspaper unknown, dated 1958;obituary found in the website Texas Genealogy Trails.)
