While surrounded by his children, sadly William Francis Biewen, 81,of Follansbee, WV passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born August 17, 1927 in Wells, Minnesota, son of the late Wellington and Evangeline Craychee Biewen. He was preceded in death by His Wife, Betty Lee Reitter Biewen, who passed away in 1991, One Son, Frankie Biewen, One Brother, Robert Biewen, One Sister, Jackie Bushlack, and One Granddaughter, Jacqueline Marker, in 1988 and a step-mother Dona Biewen. He left school to join the Navy at age 17. He was retired from the United States Navy, serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, where he was US Navy Chief Gunner Mate from 1945-1964. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp, was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Follansbee, WV, Past Commander of the Follansbee American Legion Post #45, Follansbee VFW, and the Hooverson Heights Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, crossword puzzles, reading and his daily visits with the K Mart Breakfast Club.Surviving are his Children,Daughter, Teresa Ann Marker (Edward), of Wellsburg, WV, Son, Charles W. Biewen (Melanie) of Wellsburg, WV, Daughter, Kelly E. Eggert, of Weirton, WV, One Brother,Gene Biewen (Noel) of Mankato, Minnesota. Seven Grandchildren, Zachary Grimm, Lacee and Dakota Marker, Kayla Patterson, Frankie, Brody, and Jonah Eggert,and his faithful loving dog, Daphne. Friends were received on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St. Follansbee, WV. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with Father Pete Giannamore, as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Johns Cemetery, Colliers, WV. Full Military Honors were conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
