ABERNATHY, Samuel Robert, 90, a resident of Prattville, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2014.
Visitation will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel on Friday, January 10, 2014, at 1:00pm. Chapel funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm with burial and Military Honors to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Abernathy is survived by his beloved wife, Florence; two daughters, Elizabeth Williamson (Dondi) & Kimberly Harrison (Neal); one son, Christopher Elliott (Sharon); eight grandchildren, Luke, Jake, & Brooke Williamson; Matthew, Andrew, & Isabelle Harrison; Will & Pierce Elliott.
Mr. Abernathy was a World War II veteran. Afterwards, he was a train engineer for 35 years. Mr. Abernathy was an avid outdoorsman and skilled carpenter. He served as a deacon at Capitol Heights Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. His fellow deacons have been asked to be honorary pallbearers. On line condolences may be made at www.LEAK-MC.com
