YUTAN ñ Joseph "Joe" Frank Husak, 79, of Yutan, died April 8 at his home in Yutan.
Husak was born Aug. 29, 1929, to John and Josephine (Eidelpess) Husak on the family farm near Prague. The family lived on farms or in the towns of Prague, North Bend, Webster and Wahoo. He attended country schools in District 31 and District 27. He graduated from the eighth grade, and then went to work to help his parents on the farm.
He married Mary Ellen Drews on Jan. 5, 1949 in the Saint John's Lutheran Church parsonage in Yutan. The couple has lived in the Yutan area since their marriage.
He worked for Earl May and Safeway Groceries and as a bulk milk truck driver for Kruse Transfer. He worked for Kruse Transfer until October 2002 for a total of 48 years. He then worked part-time driving a milk truck for United of Lincoln Transfer for an additional four years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served on the church council for four years. He was also a member of the Yutan Fire and Rescue Squad for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Oliver; nephew, Joel Clausen; and niece, Margaret Clausen.
He is survived by his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kim Husak of Crofton, Md.; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Roger Anderson of Omaha and Carol and Terry Widman of Cedar Bluffs; grandchildren and spouses, Sara Anderson, and fiance Joe Aliano of Omaha, Steve and Jackie Anderson of Omaha, Michael and Stacie Anderson of Omaha, William and Kristen Widman of Yutan, Mary and Sam Backes of Omaha and Amy Widman of Kearney; great-grandchildren, Jadyn Anderson, Aidan Backes, Wyatt Widman, Kohl Anderson and Owen Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Ken Clausen of Fremont; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Husak of Farmington, Iowa and Otto Husak of Papillion; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yutan with Reverend Glenn Schacht officiating. Interment will be at Hollst Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 13 with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Yutan.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Yutan Fire and Rescue Squad.
