Mr. Theodore W. Pettiford, the oldest child of the late Burr and Sylvia Pettiford was born on December 22, 1917 in Marion, Indiana.

Theodore was united in holy matrimony to Stella Ruth Davis on October 24, 1942. Theodore and Ruth moved to Detroit in August of 1948. He joine Grace Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in 1950 under the pastorage of the late Reverend George Norton. He served on the Trustee and Usher Boards until he became ill at which time he was placed in Trustee and Usher Emeritus Status.

Theodore served in the United States Army with the Military Police. He recieved an Honorable Discharge in 1946. Theodore was Exalted Ruler of the George Washington Carver Lodge for four years until 1986 when his health began to fail.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Stella Ruth; one son, Maurice; one grand-daughter, Nicole of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two grandsons, Maurice and Edward of Indianapolis, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Niko of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Burr Jr. of Detroit; his daughter-in-law, Thelma; other family members include his loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Foster of Springfield, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gayle Pettiford of Detroit, Mrs. Ruby Cozart and Francis McCoy of Springfield, Illinois; one God-son, Attorney Quincy D. Evans of Detroit; a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends

Long days, long nights he bore his pain
Hoping for cure but in vain
God saw He was suffering
And the hill was hard to climb
So He closed his weary eyes
And said "Rest Be Thine"
We love him, but God love him best.
