On April 15, 2009, Colleen Roberta Butts Fleming flew to her next adventure leaving a body gripped by lung disease and declining strength. She was the daughter of Chelsea Earl Butts, Sr. and Fay Thomas Butts. At the age of eight, after the divorce of her parents and re-marriage of her father, she lived in Sacramento where she was very active in clubs and sororities. She married Wayne Havens in Sacramento in 1952 and son Mark Havens was born. After divorce, she married James Douglas (Doug) Fleming in 1955. They had nine children. The youngest, Elizabeth Anne, died in 1974. Surviving Colleen are her husband Doug, and sons Mark (Mary) Havens of Montana, Douglas Fleming of North Carolina, David Fleming and Michael Fleming of Ohio, Cindy (Buck) Abele and Nancy Guyton of South Carolina, Christopher Fleming and Jennifer (Michael) Long of Pennsylvania, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister to mourn, Cathy (Gordon) Bonser of California, and three nieces and their families. Colleen will rest in the family plot after her husband's demise.

Colleen's life was peppered by the joy of raising her large family, celebrating ordinary life events (for instance, a weekend!) with dear friends, keeping close contact with family, and staying abreast of local and world events. She avidly read the newspaper and watched news reports on television. She was an accomplished needlewoman and produced beautiful examples of Swedish weaving. In her youth she was known for her great beauty and was a frequent guest at teas and parties in Sacramento, where she graduated from high school. She loved a good laugh, and her voice and warmth will be missed.
