Husband, Two Daughters and Three Sons Survive - Funeral Held Last Friday Morning
Mrs. John Pope of Easton passed away at her home Tuesday, December 24. Death came suddenly to her from a heart ailment although she had been in rather poor health for the last two years.
Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Friday, morning, December 27, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Father Krebsbach officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery, near Easton.
Anna Pope, nee Terhune was born on September 26, 1866 in Barber Township, where she grew to womanhood. She married to John Pope at Granite Falls, Minn. They made their home in Easton until death called her.
Seven children were born to them, two of whom preceeded her in death, Albert at the age of twenty-three years and Rubin, in infancy. Mrs. Pope was a patient sufferer for the last two years, a kind wife and mother, always ready to lend a helping hand to her neighbors. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She had been a faithful member of the Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society.
Five brothers preceded her in death, Theodore, Barney, Jack, Herman and William Terhune. One brother remains, Henry Terhune of Breckenridge, Minn.
Others remaining are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Alzora Corbett of Minneapolis and Mrs. Loretta McCormick of St. Louis, Mo., three sons, Addis and George Pope of Minneapolis and Raymond Pope, at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Probert of LaCrosse, Wis. and Mrs. George Smith of Elmore, Minn.
Pall bearers were Gottlieb Walter, Christ Ziegler, William Ascheman, William Rauenhorst, Joe Doyle and William Cusick.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Addis Pope, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stockel and Mrs. Alzora Corbett and daughters, Fern and Jessie, of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lawler of Madison, S. D., Mrs. Charles Probert and daughter, Helen, of LaCrosse, Wis., Mrs. George Smith and daughter, Thersia, Mr. and Mrs. Dustin Smith and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Elmore.
