Mr. Callis was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Laban, and the Jr. OUAM No. 82 of Mathews.
Besides his son, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wilson Armistead of Norfolk; one brother, Gus Callis, of Tabernacle; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Monday, September 2, at 2 p.m., at Foster Funeral Home, Mathews, conducted by the Rev. William H. Acosta, assisted by the Rev. Wilbur C. Diggs.
Interment was made in the Pear Tree Cemetery, Onemo, with fraternal rites by the Junior Lodge.
Pallbearers were Wilford Callis, Eugene Callis, Edgar Callis, Victor Hudgins, Willie Owens and Charles Diggs.
