Dorothy Nell Smitherman, 80, of Clanton died Wednesday, April 8 at UAB, Birmingham.
She was born Monday, Jan. 28, 1929 in Chilton County, daughter of the late Latham Pete Wilson and the late Alma Letha Patterson Wilson.
She was a retail salesperson.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie (John) Aaron of Clanton; grandson, John (Christy) Aaron of Clanton; granddaughter, Kim (Kevin) Lloyd of Alabaster; great-grandchildren; Casey Aaron, David Aaron, Ryan Lloyd; sister, Gloria Bradberry of Clanton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel David Smitherman.
Services will be held Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Boatwright and the Rev. Clyde Jones officiating.
Interment will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens, Clanton.

Nell Smitherman was a kind loving woman and was my grandmother. She worked in the cotton mill and later on in life worked at a local drugstore. She loved her family and had a kind and loving heart.
