Elvina Lea Dexter, daughter of, R. and Ida B. Dexter.
Birth annoucement in Heppner paper says she was born Dec 11, 1897. (I believe this is in error).
Was shot by her uncle Bob Barker at a dance. He had a gun and was showing off. Pointed it at the girl and a group of her friends. Pulled the trigger and she was killed instantly.

From La Grande Evening Observer, January 31, 1905:
Little Girl Killed
By Scripps News Association
Heppner, Ore, Jan, 31-Word has reached this city of the killing of the 7 year old daughter of Robert Dexter at the latter's ranch on Willow Creek, seven miles above Heppner. There was a dance at the Dexter home, at which John Barker, a half breed Indian was present.
It is said that Barker had been drinking and became enraged because the girls refused to dance with him. Barker then drew a gun, it is claimed, and began floursishing it, when it was accidently discharged, the ball striking the girl in the head, causing instant death. The dead girl was a niece of her alleged slayer.
Sheriff Shutt has left for the scene of tragedy to arrest Barker.
