The son of William J. & Margaret (Menges) Myers, in 1860 he was a farmer living with his family in Monaghan Township, York County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 6" tall and had light hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 26, 1864, mustered into federal service there August 27 as a private with Co. I, 200th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.

He married Elizabeth A. Corbett September 10, 1869, in Bureau County, Illinois, and fathered Amelia Myria (b. @1872). Elizabeth's status is unknown, but he married Sarah Ann McKinstry March 2, 1876, in Bureau County, fathering Nell Hattie (b. 11/28/76 - married Frederick O. Countryman), Luella May (b. 08/31/78 - married Fred A. Garber), Oscar Oliver (b. 08/01/83), Ethel Jeanette (b. 03/??/88 - married William Russel Glessman), and Alice A. (b. 10/??/91). In 1880, he lived with his family in Grayson County, Texas, but died in Parsons.
