Garth, 76, of Leslie, MI. passed away Friday, June 27, 1997 at his farm. He was born the son of Wesley and Leila Brownlee on the family farm in Leslie.
Garth graduated from the Leslie High School in 1938, and he married Geraldine Watters on October 19, 1940. He and Geraldine enjoyed numerous trips to Northern Michigan together.
Garth owned and operated the family farm since March 1, 1943. He enjoyed and took great pleasure in caring for his farm. He was a long-standing member of the Eden United Brethren Church. Over the years, he served on the Board of the Eden U.B. Church, Board of the Leslie Co-op and Director of Clark No. 9 school. He was a former active member of the Lansing Farmers Club and Farm Bureau.
Surviving are 2 sons, Larry (Cynthia) and Richard (Pennie), 1 daughter, Sheri Lee (David) Dunsmore), all of Leslie; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Bertine Scripter of Mason, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Garth was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, in 1993, a marriage of 52 years.
Funeral services was held at the Eden U.B. Church on Wednesday, July 2, 1997, with Rev. Harold Cherry officiating. Internment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Wesley Emerson officiating.
