Private, Company "D", 8th Iowa Infantry. Enlisted first on September 16, 1862 in Canton township, Benton County, Iowa; discharged as a Private on April 20, 1866 in Selma, Alabama; enlisted secondly on January 11, 1864 in Selma, Alabama into same regiment.
He and his wife Rebecca were admitted to Washington Veterans' Home on August 27, 1919.
He died on December 20, 1926 at the age of 89 years of age at Retsil.
