Edwin was born out of wedlock, mother Eleanor Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Joseph-estate papers confirm this. No information can be found on whom the father is nor death of his mother(by census records after 1860 but before 1870).
Edwin never married, resided mainly with his Aunt Eliza J after the death of Joseph his
grandfather.
