Wife of Dr. George Washington Burton, C.S.A. ~ June 07, 1849, Hancock Co., GA

Departed this life, on the morning of the 5th inst., in Hancock County, Mrs. Sarah Ann E. BURTON, consort of Dr. Geo. W. burton, in the 20th year of her age. the subject of this notice lieved beloved and died regretted by all who knew her. It may be said of her, what can in turth be said of few, she left no enemies behind. We do not claim for her a total exemption from the frailites of human nature, for none are perfect, but we do say it is hard to find a combination of so many virtues with so few faults. She has left a void in the community in which she lived, and a bereaved husband and two little brothers, which it will be hard to fill. While we mourn her loss, may solace ourselves by cherishing her many good deeds.
To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die;
Sleep, sweet Sally, Sleep in they peaceful grave;
May kind Heaven protect thee,And sprinkle dew-drops soft around thee.

NOTE:

After Sarah Ann Eliabeth (Harper) Burton death, Dr. George Washington Burton married 2nd., March 23, 1854, Hancock Co., GA to Catherine LeGay Rowe.
